Privacy Information There are seven personal information fields to fill in when you register. Two (username and email address) are required, but the other five are completely optional. Your username is the name you will be known as when you post on the bar. If you wish to remain anonymous, don't use your real name. This is always visible to any user. Your email address must always be valid, since a random password is emailed to you after you register, and any time you change your email address on record. You can choose whether your email should be publicly visible or not. Any optional information is visible by anyone visiting the Bar, not just members, so if you don't want to give it, DON'T. Note: None of your information will EVER be ACTIVELY released by us to any third party, although any information displayed publicly may be taken without your or our knowledge. If there is any sensitive information you do not wish people to know, DON'T ENTER IT. It is usually advisable to use an anonymous free email service, such as hotmail. Like you would in a real bar, hence the name :) This means that some of the topics posted may not be to your liking, or (in rare circumstances) you may even find offensive. This is why we consider The Bar to be rated suitable only for those of age 13 and over. Public and Private Forum Differences The public forum, which anyone can view, is moderated and the content monitored. However the private forum, which has an entry threshold, is not moderated as strictly as the public forums (in fact, hardly at all), and so the chances of finding material that you may consider unsuitable is that much higher. If any parents wish to stop their children from being allowed access to this forum, they should email the staff here. General Posting Guidelines The best advice is to read some other messages before you begin posting, just to get an idea of what is and is not acceptable. However, some general guidelines are: No pornography or other illegal material, including (but not limited to) links to software piracy ("warez") or criminal activity - this is most strongly enforced; Swearing is allowed, in sensible amounts, although censoring the words is advised, at least until you get used to the atmosphere ;) Spam (multiple useless posts, particularly "bump" posts) is permitted in the topic "This Place Is Cool", although not welcomed elsewhere on the board; No flaming of other members - this is second-most-strongly enforced. -------------------- Miscellaneous If you have ANY OTHER QUESTIONS, please contact us BEFORE YOU REGISTER, and we will attempt to sort out your problem.
